Linux
Linux is now well established as a serious enterprise server,
and is also making progress as a desktop system, especially in
the academic and public sectors.
A dual approach to Linux
training
Just as with the UNIX portfolio, we take a dual approach to our
Linux offering. On one hand, we have a vendor-neutral range of
courses; and also we include a broad portfolio of official
Novell courses covering administration, security and network
services (vist our Novell Zone).
There are many Linux distributions (for example
RHEL/Fedora/CentOS, SuSE, Mandriva, Debian, Ubuntu, Slackware),
but they all rely on the same kernel and similar set of tools
and utilities. Our own-brand courses capitalise on this "there
is only one Linux" message. We thus encourage our delegates to
understand Linux for what it is: another version of UNIX, one
that can be used as a fantastic system integrator capable or
running on vast range of hardware, as an enterprise server, as
well as an end-user desktop. We do, however, point out
differences and guide the delegates through the mass of related
products.
The entry point into the Linux portfolio is Essentials of Linux
Administration, complimented by the Mastering BASH Scripts. The
Linux administration issues are covered in the Linux
Administration course, which has been recently updated to
include many contemporary features provided by the latest 2.6
kernel.
QA-IQ’s own-brand Linux courses are run on RHEL 4 (Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 4), but are relevant to any
distribution.
